Millbrook School is seeking an associate head coach on the varsity level for our girls soccer program. Our vision is that this person will become the head of the program in the coming years. Athletic spaces, across all levels, are considered classrooms and are an integral part of Millbrook’s mission. All teams within the Millbrook athletic department teach character development, integrity, physical fitness, sportsmanship, competitive drive, and teamwork while amplifying school spirit.

Responsibilities:

  • Attend and help to plan practices each afternoon/early evening on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday
  • Attend and coach in games–typically every Wednesday and Saturday afternoon.
  • Help to create a vision for our girls soccer program.
  • Provide daily feedback to both the team and to specific student-athletes.
  • Help to manage the logistics of practices and games.
  • Support the head coach with daily tasks.
  • Help with the college process for the appropriate student-athletes.
  • Recruit qualified student-athletes.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in the sport of soccer, preferably at the collegiate level.
  • Ability to demonstrate and teach the game of soccer to high school students.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with high school athletes and with other coaches.
  • Ability to grow and foster teamwork with both the student-athletes and the coaching staff.
  • Ability to hold student-athletes accountable in a meaningful and thoughtful manner that focuses on their growth as individuals.

Physical Requirements

  • The ability to demonstrate drills and techniques on the soccer field.
  • Ability to drive students to away games.

Working Conditions

  • Working mainly outside.

Compensation:

In isolation, this is a part-time position and this person would be asked to work roughly 14-16 hours per week for the duration of the season (from the week of September 11th to the week of November 13th when Millbrook School is in session). Compensation is commensurate with experience and is typically $3,000 per season for an assistant coach.

Most Millbrook coaches also teach, coach additional teams, serve as an advisor, and support students in other capacities on campus. Were a candidate's skills aligned with openings in other departments, this could become part of a full-time position.
